Dear International Fellows, Teachers, Friends & Student Leaders -
Teaching topics from my Leading Well curriculum to international fellows, teachers and students over the past decade, I have heard amazing stories of valuable work being done globally. Bringing together your skills and passion, I have learned about your powerful initiatives in Bangladesh and Botswana, Senegal and Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Poland, Tunisia and Turkmenistan and the list goes on. I meet folks across programs working in similar regions or doing similar work but living across the world from each other – I often wish you all knew each other! You have best practices and innovative techniques that should be shared. You are a great team who is committed to making the world and its inhabitants healthier.
In my Personal Leadership Plan, I envision vibrant networks of capable, compassionate leaders working to wisely solve the great problems of our times. My goals center around supporting rising international leaders through capacity building, networking, intensives and eventual access to funding.
I would like to start connecting you and further supporting you through a Leading Well Network. We will begin by gathering information about this community and its needs. We can then keep you apprised of upcoming events and opportunities.
In July through October, we provided four sessions where 90 leaders from 50 countries came together online and learned a bit more about leadership and each other in the process. Through this pilot experience, we met for 90-minute sessions on the last Monday of each month that included a brief exploration of a leadership topic and then time in interactive dialogue with other participants. We met together and then headed into small groups on Google Hangouts or Skype. Trained dialogue moderators facilitated these small group conversations.
